Cascade Fixation ankle socks

Here are my very basic, but oh so comfy ankle socks. I got two socks out of one ball with leftovers (but keep in mind I have small feet - size 5 1/2 to 6 US or 35/36 European!)

In other news, I'm totally in love with the Curlicue Coverlet which I saw over at Grumperina's blog. Now I'm going to have to make one of these, as soon as the rest of my WIPs and PIPs (Planning in Progress) get done.

Kitties and knitting and stuff

I was talking with some of the girls at my SnB today, and we were discussing some of the things that bug us about knitting blogs. I mean, if you're advertising your blog as a knitting blog (or in my case a knitting and crochet blog) then it should be mainly about knitting, right? I mean, I shouldn't be reading endless political rants or constant talk about your kids or pets, or pictures of them! Of course, if it's your personal blog that also talks about knitting, that's another scenario entirely.

So, not to be a bad knit blogger and only be posting pics of my cats, here's a picture of my cats and my knitting:

The knitting in that picture is my multidirectional scarf, which I started today. Here's the progress at the moment:

And in FO news, I've finished my mini-Clapotis with the Hipknits silk I got from my SP4:

I'm also close to finishing my ankle socks. Just need to finish the toe decreases, which I'll do while watching Netflix as soon as I get my cup of iced tea. My zebra shell is also going very well. I'm in armhole shaping at the moment, and since it's sleeveless that means it's almost done. :)

My first SP5 package

Yesterday when I got home I had the weirdest piece of mail I've ever gotten:

Weird in a good way, of course. ;)

Inside was a lovely Turkish drop spindle with two beautiful little pieces of roving:

This thing is so cool! It comes apart into three pieces, and the way you wind the yarn makes a center-pull ball when you're done!

There were also some great little magnets (I love magnets), two bookmarks - a star and a sun, stitch markers in a little bag, a purple sparkle pin, a really cute tape measure, and a pad of paper with a funny little dog on it.

Last, but not least, were stickers:

Scratch and sniff Junior Mints (which I can't eat because of gelatin but I will gladly sniff), stars (of course), Halloween stickers, and star 'ring tattoo' stickers.

Thanks so much, Elf, for the great first package! Everything is great, and I'm looking forward to spinning soon when my hand isn't all swollen from the stupid spider/insect bite.

Getting caught up - my last SP4 package

So, this package arrived last Thursday and due to my friend being here for the weekend and my camera batteries dying and crazy busy-ness... Well you know.

So finally, here is the report.

My last SP package contained two balls of the lovliest light blue yarn with a ribbon binder and silver sparkle! Also there were two bars of chocolate - white chocolate and milk chocolate with raisins and hazelnuts! Last, but not least, there was a little blue clutch bag (not pictured) with body wash, hand lotion, and lip balm all from Boots!

Thanks so much rachydarling for being a fab SP!

Something every knitblogger needs....

Kitties!

I have two lovely new additions to my family. Meet the kitties:

Sorry the pictures aren't that fabulous, but I've had them for less than 24 hours, and I didn't think that chasing them around with the camera would be the best way to establish a kind and loving relationship.

Edited to add more details:
The cats are 3 years old and they are brother and sister. They've lived together their whole lives and really do love each other. I got them from a woman who had to find them a new home due to her baby's allergies.

They came with the names Sebastian and Lulu, but I think I'm going to change them after I get to know them a bit better. I'm not very fond of the name Lulu, and I'm thinking of doing something brother/sister themed from literature or pop culture.

And in knitting events, I was working on my Zebra Shell and managed to snap the connection on one of my Denise cords. I have no clue how that happened but I'm going to have to email the company and request a replacement. This leaves me with only the Rogue and a pair of socks to work on today. The socks are coming to knitting group with me, and may even be finished today or tomorrow!

Knitted gifts delivered!

Well, I just returned from a little trip to visit some friends, and while I was there I delivered two knitted gifts: the lime green and turquoise baby blanket for the soon-to-be-born Tristan, and the Hufflepuff scarf for my friend Brian.

Brian even modelled his Hufflepuff scarf as soon as I handed it to him, even though we were outside in the sun and it was in the mid 70s. He's a good appreciative knitted gift receiver.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the FOs, just progress pics, but here we go:

Here is a rather small progress pic of Tristan's blanket, since when it got bigger it became rather bunched up and ugly in photos.

And here's the Hufflepuff scarf, at about 40% done (partway through stripe 8 of 19).
