(Black)hearted
Feeling a little down this Valentine's Day?
Well cheer yourself up with the long-awaited (Black)hearted pattern!

Pattern: (Black)hearted - the PDF is available here
Yarn: Cider Moon Flurry in Midnight Special
Started: 2/2/08
Finished: 2/13/08
Sometimes I like to take a bit of a goth approach to Valentine's Day. I pretend that I'm bitter and single, but really I'm not. (Bitter, that is, other than CTHGSY I'm single.)
These socks have been stuck in my head for quite a while, as I mentioned before. The initial idea came with these ones which I knit for Marymac since her birthday is on Valentine's Day. (Happy Birthday!) The whole Sockapaloooza thing is a lie and was crafted to throw off my real pal who even commented on that post. ;)
Look at that goth-ruffly goodness!

I revamped the pattern a bit by rewriting the heart chart with decreases I like better. However my idea included a "choose your own adventure" aspect that I also incorporated into the pattern. There are a few choices for different tops, heels, and toes. MJ went for a slightly more traditional Valentine's approach:

Knit by MJ in ShibuiKnits Sock in Blossom, and on a very tight deadline might I mention. She also did the fabulous PDF design. It's so nice to have friends who cater to your knitting whims...
Tomorrow I'll be wearing my socks and indulging in my Anti-Valentine playlist. But however you spend your Valentine's Day I hope it's a good one!

Oh I heart them!! They are fabulous!! I love them both! Fantastic job!!
Oooo another sock to add to ever growing list of socks to knit - great design - adore the goth influence!
hearts! ruffles! awesomeness!
Very cute pattern! Thank you for sharing it with us!
My dry and bitter spinster soul appreciates the Black-heart socks... but then my girly side thinks "Ooooh! Pink!" LOL
Great pattern.
They are gorgeous and I love the sentiment behind them!
Is there any spinning stuff you're coveting? Any fibers you'd like to spin up? Any you absolutely hate? I ask because my LYS has a nice selction of roving and spinning supplies. I will be in there tomorrow morning to not only clean out their sock yarn of everything I love, but also to attend part two of my spinning class. I will probably be purchasing a wheel soon too. Fun times!
Oh, and I'm sending something very special and one of a kind to you in your next package, which, I might add, is coming together nicely!
I love those socks they are so cute I left you an award on my blog when you get a chance
yay for new sock patterns :-)
Love them! Thanks for posting such a fantastic pattern. I like cheerful black.
Of course, "Blackheart" automatically makes me think of Joan Jett, which means that I need to knit these.
Thank you for making such an awesome pattern!
I forgot to post a comment on knitty, so I just want to say I love your new sock pattern.
This pattern was just what I was looking for! It perfectly suits the colorway (Passion--black and red!) and the first sock is gorgeous. I can't wait to finish them and wear them!
Thank you so much for sharing it.
