The good, the bad, and the yummy
Today was a rather eventful day.
The good:
I did some spinning - some of the fiber I bought at Rhinebeck last year and was "saving" until I was a good spinner. Hey, I'm not perfect but I routinely turn out usable yarn so why not?
The bad:
I received my Socks of Doom from Spincerely Yours. Ah well, I was a brave warrior and have already taken out two targets.
The yummy:
I baked eplekake (Norwegian apple cake) from the recipe my Norwegian friend gave me a few weeks ago. :)

Your handspun looks really great! I am mildly embarrassed by how long it has been since my wheel got any use...
As to the apple cake, is your friend's recipe in grams? My SO's german father gave us an apple cake recipe, which although we do have a kitchen scale, didn't work out all that well. I am told there is a huge difference in European and American flour, but I am not sure if that is the reason.
Your yarn is beautiful. And your fatal socks are very nice, too. At least you got to take out a couple.
Can you share the apple recipe? I have apples galore and three hungry men. :)
Hey! great yarn :) Sorry for not commenting sooner, I've been sick and behind on comments. Your entry for the contest was too funny! If it makes you feel any better, I dated a very Manson-esque guy in high school once, I think he even wanted to be a vampire lol
OK I just wrote my own obituary. You have to go check it out - too funny!
i sent the buffalo wool
Love the handspun! Socks?
The apple thing looks delicious! Is it from Theresa? I need that recipe!
Wow, I know it is war and everything - but it is hard to see one's handknit socks listed under "the bad." I know, I know, War is Hell.
If I do say so myself, they look pretty nice on your feet though. I hope you like them!
That apple cake looks scrumptious! As does the new handspun!
Gorgeous handspun!
Bummer about being knocked out of sock wars. You did really well though!
Hi there...
Hoping you can help me figure out my next move in Sock Wars...
I was Spincerely Yours's assassin. I know she was yours. You said you took out 2 victims. Can you help me get in touch with your second victim so I can figure out who I'm supposed to be in touch with?
This might be a moot point soon...my assassin says she's almost done with her socks...but she could get killed before she finishes, so who knows!!
Hi! Sorry, I forgot my profile email wasn't turned on, it's there now :)
perfect title for your post....;o))
Looking madly for Eple Kake recipe. Lots of non-English conversion about this Norwegian apple cake. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm in love with Norwegian man originally from Svalbarg, and he keeps talking about this cake. I see you are into Knits and Socks, and this is a side item, but you could make a friend for life :-D
